THIS year’s Jacaranda Music Festival will be held at Thornpark Polo Ground in Harare from October 4 to 6, event organisers have said.

Now in its eighth year, the event will be held under the theme “The music, the People and the City”.

After having been held at Old Hararians and Alexandra Park in past years, organisers have moved it to a bigger venue to accommodate more fans.

Speaking during the launch, founder and director of Ngoma Nehosho, Walter Wanyanya highlighted the growth of the festival.

“We started off with a one-day event and the vision grew,” he said.

“Revellers and art lovers will be catered for with a five-day event.

“We are going to have a two-day workshop with panellists, artists, musicians and other parties to encourage interaction.

“Then there will be three days of absolute entertainment. We have two surprise artistes that are yet to be revealed.”

Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Nicholas Moyo applauded the festival saying it has stood the test of time.

“Let us increase the consumption of music festivals in our country. Jacaranda event organisers have shown that events of such a magnitude are their forte,” he said.

A stellar line-up of artistes is set to perform at the event.

Some of the acts set to perform at the event include Mokoomba, Casper Nyovest, Nutty O, Dlala Tukzin and Micassa, among others.
