238 000 tonnes of grain and oilseeds marketed so far

A total of 237 710 tonnes of grains and oilseeds from the 2023/2024 summer season had been marketed as at October 14,

2024, of which 48 334 tonnes were delivered to the Grain Marketing (GMB).

Speaking in a Cabinet briefing on Tuesday, Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere said

the grain and oilseeds marketed comprises 130 244 tonnes of maize, 28 748 tonnes of soyabeans, 8 156 tonnes of sorghum, 1

259 tonnes of sunflower, 51 299 tonnes of wheat and 18 004 tonnes of barley.

He said the Government continues to put in place measures to ensure that farmers are paid on time.

Current stocks of maize, wheat and traditional grains in the strategic grain reserves stand at 228 712 tonnes, which is sufficient

to last till January next year.
