An ex-cop who was captured on camera battering his 10-year-old son with bricks and a wire has been sentenced to perform 240
hours of community service.
Presiding magistrate Mrs Ayanda Dhlamini initially sentenced Knowell Muzenda (39) to 18 months imprisonment for ill-
treatment of a minor.
However, six months were suspended on the condition of good behaviour, while the remaining 12 months were suspended on
the condition that he performs 240 hours of community service at Mabvuku Police Station.
The court heard that on October 6, Muzenda sent his son to buy spaghetti at a nearby tuckshop in Eastview.
The boy returned later than expected and this did not go down well with Muzenda. He went on to assault the minor with a
black rubber rope, a wire, and bricks.
The boy sustained a swollen left cheek, bruises on the back, a swollen right leg and pain all over his body.
