A disturbing scene recently unfolded on the Harare-Masvingo highway as 30-tonne haulage trucks brazenly overtook other

trucks in prohibited zones, thereby putting the lives of both motorists and passengers at risk.

Drivers are prohibited from overtaking on stretches that have double white lines but the daredevil manoeuvre is rampant on

the country’s roads.

Road accidents claim countless lives annually, with reckless driving being a leading cause.

Increased police presence on the roads, enhanced driver training, retesting of drivers, defensive driving courses, and public
