SMILE, you’re on CCTV!
A total of 284 Bulawayo motorists have been caught on camera driving through red robots, thanks to the city’s electronic surveillance system.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police released a list of shame containing number plates of offending vehicles, exposing a surge in reckless driving on the city’s roads.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the system only captures vehicle registration numbers but an upgrade is on the way that will tighten the net on traffic offenders.

“The Electronic Management System in Bulawayo is currently capturing vehicle registration numbers only. This is a temporary measure and an upgrade is underway to enhance the system’s capabilities. Once the upgrade is complete, the police will provide an update to the public on the particulars of motorists captured by the system,” said Comm Nyathi.

With Big Brother watching, it may soon be game over for reckless drivers who think traffic lights are just suggestions.
