THE Zambezi Eagles are back and hungry for victory as they prepare to swoop into South Africa’s Telkom Netball League for the second time, with sights firmly set on domination.
The high-stakes tournament kicks off on June 13 in the North West Province, and the Eagles are bringing firepower and fresh tactics after a promising debut last season.
“We’ve got the right combinations now, but South African teams know our game. So we’re switching things up in all departments,” said technical director John Banda.
Banda revealed that the team has gone back to the drawing board, ironing out weaknesses from their last campaign. From strategy to stamina, everything is being sharpened.

The Eagles’ participation is part of the Zimbabwe Netball Association (ZINA) strategy to gear up for the World Cup Qualifiers in Australia. The league will double as a selection ground for national stars to make it into the Gems squad.
“This stage is perfect for preparing and picking players who can carry the nation at the Africa Qualifiers,” Banda said.

The team has been in full-throttle training since May 30 and will wrap up camp on June 11.
Facing three of South Africa’s top-tier sides, the Eagles know they are in for a tough fight. That is exactly what they want.

“This is the kind of pressure our girls need. Steel sharpens steel,” said Banda.
With bold new strategies and national pride on the line, the Eagles are aiming to conquer the skies.
