AT LEAST 3 500 delegates are expected to attend the 23rd ZANU PF Annual People’s Conference in Chinhoyi in October, with preparations now more than 60 percent complete.
This year’s indaba will focus on reviewing the implementation of party resolutions and advancing economic development towards Vision 2030.
The conference will run under the theme “From resolutions to results: Consolidating economic development and deepening economic empowerment towards Vision 2030”, reflecting the party’s emphasis on translating policy decisions into tangible socio-economic outcomes.
ZANU PF director for information and publicity Cde Farai Marapira said preparations for the annual indaba were progressing well and remained ahead of schedule.
“We will be expecting about 3 500 delegates, give or take,” he said.
“We are well ahead in planning and finalising this year’s National People’s Conference.
“We have had a Politburo visit to the venue in Chinhoyi, where we will be holding this year’s conference under the theme ‘From resolutions to results: Consolidating economic development and deepening economic empowerment towards Vision 2030’”.
The conference is also expected to attract delegates from sister revolutionary parties across the region, including South Africa’s African National Congress (ANC), Tanzania’s Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), Angola’s People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), Mozambique’s Front for the Liberation of Mozambique (FRELIMO) and Namibia’s South West Africa People’s Organisation (SWAPO).
“As usual, our friends, brothers and sisters from around the world will definitely be coming to stand in solidarity with one of the foremost revolutionary parties in the world, which is ZANU PF,” said Cde Marapira.
Delegates are expected to assess progress made in implementing resolutions adopted at previous conferences while charting the party’s priorities for the country’s continued socio-economic development.
This year’s conference will place significant emphasis on the role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in driving economic transformation.
The conference exhibition village is expected to showcase SME-led initiatives and demonstrate how party policies are contributing to economic growth, job creation, industrialisation and the attainment of Vision 2030.
