A HONDE VALLEY man was slapped with a three-month jail term after he was found guilty of assaulting a one-year-old toddler and a 70-year-old granny.
Noah Mukwindidza (36) pleaded guilty to domestic violence when he appeared before Mutare senior magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura.
Mr Donald Mudadirwa prosecuted.
Mr Mudadirwa said Mukwindidza arrived at Mary Mutumana’s homestead in Sahumani Village where she was with her one-year-old grandchild and slapped the toddler with open palms until she fell down.
“When Mutumana tried to intervene, Mukwindidza took a wooden stick and assaulted the old woman. The toddler sustained swollen cheeks and a red left eye, while the grandmother did not sustain any visible injuries,” said Mr Mudadirwa.
Mukwindidza blamed his actions on evil spirits that were haunting him.
“Your Worship, I did assault the baby and her grandmother, but up to now I do not know why.
“Please forgive me,” he begged.
