THIRTY job seekers were duped by a bogus agent who promised to secure jobs for them at a Non-Governmental Organisation.
The suspect, Tambudzai Muchiri 47, appeared in court yesterday.
Allegations are that between June and September, Muchiri misrepresented to the job seekers that she was an employment agent from a Non-Governmental Organisation and was looking for employees to work as nurse aides for Trinity and Plan International companies.
She allegedly told the desperate job seekers that they needed to pay US$40 each,.
She claimed she would use the money to buy uniforms, shoes and badges for them.
Acting on the misrepresentation, the job seekers paid a total of US$2 160 towards the cause.
Muchiri failed either to offer employment or provide the uniforms to them and continued to promise that she was working on it till she became evasive.
She moved houses several times to evade her victims until they filed a police report and she was arrested hiding in an incomplete structure in Phase 6, Caledonia.
Nothing was recovered.
