AUDITIONS for the ZBC TV entrepreneurial reality show “My Own Boss” (MOB) season 5 are now in full swing. The auditions which took place over the weekend in Gweru, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls saw more than 30 would be contestants participating. The executive producer of the show, Simanga Zhou, said all was going according to plan.

“We are happy to say that we have received overwhelming response from the general public. Tomorrow (Wednesday) we will be in Beitbridge, while on Friday the auditions will be held in Chitungwiza. Saturday we will be in Harare,” he said.

Zhou said so far they had the best turn out from Bulawayo and best quality entrepreneurs.

“Bulawayo was the best so far as they came in their numbers and it was very difficult for us judges as they prove that there are young, innovative entrepreneurs who look forward to be their own bosses and with Gweru it was moderate” said Zhou.

Only two contestants will be selected from each province countrywide to qualify to enter the My Own Boss House where the action happens.

Munyaradzi Hwengwere, the chief executive of MOB, said the auditions were successfully taking place and the turnout from the youths was pleasing. This time the reality show has been described as different from last year’s.

“My Own Boss 2013 is sure to be an entertaining celebration of the entrepreneurial genius that this country has,” said Hwengwere.

The mentorship is facilitating loans for their contestants’ US$5000 each from the Youth Empowerment Programme as reality TV show is in partnership with the Zimbabwe Youth Council.

Dubbed “Youth Empowerment – Endless Possibilities”, “My Own Boss” Season 5 seeks to identify, nurture, educate and expose raw entrepreneurial talent in Zimbabwean youths between the ages of 18 and 35 years.

Zhou also said this season the youth empowerment is the practical reality.

“Judging criteria is based on task profitability, leadership skills, communication, innovation and exploration of new opportunities.”

“I’m appealing to all youth who have the capability to come and prove themselves for the last auditions in Beitbridge, Chitungwiza and Harare.” Said Zhou

In Chitungwiza we will be at Chitungwiza Arch Centre and in Harare at Dutch Reformed Church corner Samora Machel and Leopold Takawira at 9am.
