AT LEAST 312 companies are expected to showcase their products and services at the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, which begins in Bulawayo on Thursday.
The three-day expo, organised by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, provides a platform for tourism stakeholders to network, showcase their offerings and promote collaboration.
ZTA chief executive officer Ms Winnie Muchanyuka told The Sunday Mail that the high number of exhibitors was an indication of growing interest in the expo.
“Our initial target was to have 300 exhibitors, but we have exceeded that target and currently have 312 exhibitors. In terms of buyers, we are hosting 100 international buyers who are keen on exploring and investing in Zimbabwe’s tourism industry,” she said.
“Apart from the exhibition itself, there will be various events within the expo, including the Investment Forum, which will provide a platform for industry professionals to discuss investment prospects.”
The forum will run under the theme “Tourism Investment — Re-imagining Sustainable Partnerships”.
The local tourism industry has undergone transformation in recent years through implementation of the National Tourism Recovery and Growth Strategy, which seeks to grow it to a US$5 billion sector by 2025.
