The Miss World Zimbabwe auditions held on February 6 and 7 at the Rainbow hotel in Bulawayo saw 60 models participating with 32 pulling through. The models came to try their luck and see if they qualified for the boot camp which will start on April 1 in Harare.

Miss Zimbabwe is following the strict pre-requisites for Miss World. One has to be 1.71 metres tall and weigh 60kgs and below. Not many models qualified and this was a disappointment to them as their dreams were dashed.

Miss World Zimbabwe scout Christine Matambo said that these first auditions were just the first stages as they are looking for something more not just the height and weight.

“At the moment I can’t reveal what will be happening at the boot camp but I assure you the models will be in good hands, being groomed. We also want to see if they are intelligent and hardworking among other things. It’ll be survival of the fittest,” said Matambo.

It was apparent at the auditions that some selected models need to work extra hard on confidence and language.
