33-year-old man slapped with 17 years in jail for raping a teen

A 33-YEAR-Old man from Lupane was sentenced to 17 years in prison by a Hwange Magistrate for raping a teenager.
According to a statement by the National Prosecuting Authority on X the accused committed the offence on 10t august when found the complainant (16) alone at home.

“He greeted the complainant and held her hand before dragging her outside to a nearby bush where he raped her and after he committed the offence he threatened to stab her if she revealed the matter to anyone,” the statement read.

The matter came to light when the complainant confided in her mother and a police report was made leading to the arrest of the accused person.

“He was found guilty and sentenced to 17 years imprisonment,” the NPAZ said.
