AT least 35 films will be showcased at the inaugural Mosi-oa-Tunya International Film Festival (MOTIFF) in Victoria Falls from August 1 to 4.

A brainchild of Fronteras Capital, the festival will bring together 150 creatives and business executives to the country’s principal resort. Speaking during the launch yesterday, Fronteras Capital chairperson, Dumisani Nyoni, said they want to put Africa on the spot.

“We have designed this film festival to tap into the African experience so that we get more people coming to Victoria Falls.

“As creatives, we have powerful stories to tell and this is the platform we want to use to celebrate the rich cultural tapestry of Zimbabwe and beyond. We have a diverse selection of films that capture the essence of storytelling through the lens of a camera,” said Nyoni.

He is confident MOTIFF will connect Zimbabwe to the rest of the film world.

“We all have a part to play in this script, get involved as a story, like no other, begins.

“There is a large appetite on the continent and abroad for fresh content and opportunities abound for those with an artistic and entrepreneurial spirit. The MOTIFF is a meeting point of capital and creatives, opening up an emerging growth sector for investors, artists and the business-minded,” he said.

Fronteras Capital, an investment group, is collaborating with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe to host the festival.
