The Government has mobilised 27 000 tonnes of meal meal that will be distributed to 4 000 schools in urban and rural areas countrywide to alleviate hunger.

The mealie meal will be distributed from the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) Cleveland depot in Harare by trucks to various GMB depots across the country, where school authorities will collect them.

Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development permanent secretary Professor Obert Jiri said a larger portion of the mealie meal will be allocated to schools in the rural areas.
