FOUR Bulawayo beauties yesterday made the final 16 of the Miss World Zimbabwe finale after a rigorous two-week boot camp at the Elephant Hills Resort in Victoria Falls. Nokulunga Nyathi, Nicolleta Nyathi, Bionica Chipanje and Anissa Ndiriwani outshone 41 other contestants from the country’s 10 provinces.

The boot camp included various activities such as aerobics, public speaking, sports, etiquette and grooming lessons.

They together with Hilda Mabu, Rairo Gunguwo, Annie-Grace Mutambu, Emily Kachote, Vanessa Mbedzi (Miss Zimbabwe USA 2012), Melody Chitsungo, Blessing Mudiwa, Vanessa Mutemasango, Chengetai Kanonhuwa, Daphney Kuzvidza, Melody Muza and Panashe Pfende will battle it out for the coveted crown in Shamva on April 25. The winner will earn herself a spot at the Miss World finale as Zimbabwe’s representative.

Miss World Zimbabwe spokesperson Tendai Chirau said the 16 finalists would check out of their plush Victoria Falls home on Thursday for Harare for the last week of boot camp. A sashing ceremony to unveil the finalists will be held in Harare on Friday at the La Chelle offices – home to the Miss Zimbabwe Trust.

“During the last week of boot camp, the models will be perfecting their catwalk routines, public speaking skills, and personal grooming ahead of the big night.

“Of the 57 girls that made it to boot camp, three dropped out for personal reasons,” Chirau said.

He said going forward, any finalist to leave the contest would have been found on the wrong side of the competition rules.

The Miss Zimbabwe Trust said it was satisfied with the calibre of models shortlisted for the finale.

“We’re optimistic we’ll crown a probity representative for the Miss World finale as the finalists grasped what we taught them well,” he said.

Meanwhile, South Africa-based Zimbabwean fashion designer Spero Villioti has been trusted for the second year running to dress the models at the grand finale while Trevor Dongo will serenade guests.
