A MONUMENTAL task lies ahead for Zimbabwe on day three of the second Test against South Africa at Queens Sports Club.
The Chevrons, who were asked to follow on trial South Africa by 405 runs with nine wickets in hand.
South Africa declared their first innings on 626/5 with Wiaan Mulder opting against breaking Brian Lara’s longstanding record for the highest individual score in Tests.
Lara scored 400 and Mulder, who said Lara should keep his record, finished unbeaten on 367.
Zimbabwe were bowled out for 170 runs in the first innings with Sean Williams scoring an unbeaten 83 runs, his seventh Test half century.
They resume the day on 51/1, having lost the wicket of Dion Myers for 11 runs.
Day three could potentially be the last of this Test.
