FORTY-TWO students have graduated with diplomas at the 13th Shamva Agricultural College graduation ceremony.
In his remarks at the graduation, Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Deputy Minister Davis Marapira said agricultural colleges should adopt Education 5.0, which ensures that graduates become entrepreneurs to ensure the development of the nation.
“I want colleges that churn out graduates who have the capacity to become entrepreneurs rather than employees,” he said.
“So the college should be able to have the capacity to produce graduates who have the relevant skills to produce raw materials in the agriculture industry.”
The college’s acting principal, Mr Benjamin Chirambiwa, said they are doing various projects to support Education 5.0.
“We are into poultry project and crop production but we have challenges that need to be addressed for us to be more productive. We need more funding from the Government,” he said.
Some of the courses include agricultural engineering, crop production, animal production, and agribusiness and farm management.
