4th Chimurenga heroes and patriots building Zimbabwe’s future

Zimbabwe is rising and Vision 2030 is unfolding with a cadence that echoes the eternal truth proclaimed by President Mnangagwa that Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo.

This philosophy is no mere slogan, but a living reality embodied in the works of men and women who are choosing to build rather than destroy, to empower rather than sabotage, to uplift rather than ridicule.

While career opposers are busy tarnishing the name of the country and fighting every progressive idea, patriots are investing their resources, their ideas and their sweat into the soil of their motherland.

They are the unsung heroes of the 4th Chimurenga, standing as pillars of economic sovereignty and national pride, proving that the destiny of Zimbabwe is secured when State and citizen walk together.

Dr Kuda Tagwirei spearheaded Command Agriculture through Sakunda Holdings, ensuring Zimbabwe achieved food sovereignty with record maize and wheat harvests.

He helped stabilise the fuel sector during critical years, invested in mining and infrastructure and funded clinics, schools, boreholes and revolving funds for rural communities.

He continues to capacitate the youth, to support churches and to provide scholarships. Today he is chairing the Land Tenure Implementation Committee, unlocking billions in value by converting offer letters into bankable title deeds for hundreds of thousands of farmers.

He is pledging resources toward rehabilitating Ingutsheni Central Hospital in Bulawayo, complementing Government’s commitment. Through the Bridging Gaps Foundation he is running Operation Macedonia, delivering healthcare outreach, borehole drilling and mechanised tillage programmes that are reshaping rural livelihoods. His work is living proof that patriotism is not only political, but economic, that sovereignty is defended not only by soldiers, but by entrepreneurs who choose to build.

Dr Paul Tungwarara spearheads the Presidential Borehole Scheme, drilling tens of thousands of boreholes across Zimbabwe. He has expanded into solar energy, hospital renovations and river rehabilitation, creating jobs and empowering communities. He has partnered in the Cyber City project, attracting global investment and positioning Zimbabwe as a hub for technology and innovation. Today he is commissioning solar-powered boreholes across the country, targeting thousands of rural villages and urban constituencies. He is rolling out Village Business Units equipped with irrigation, solar power and water systems to industrialise rural communities.

He is relaunching the Presidential Empowerment Fund, distributing capital, fertiliser and bicycles to constituencies, while pledging hospital renovations and teacher accommodation upgrades. He is vocal in support of Vision 2030 and CAB3, ensuring empowerment programmes are reaching youths, women, war veterans and essential service providers. His voice is echoing the truth that development is not a spectator sport but a collective march.

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo sponsored Highlanders FC, Dynamos FC, Caps United FC and the Warriors national team, reviving Zimbabwean football and restoring pride. He donated buses to schools and clubs, enhancing education and sport. He extended philanthropy to musicians, artists and ordinary citizens, reinforcing the cultural and social fabric of the nation.

He continues donating ambulances and fuel supplies to provincial hospitals nationwide, strengthening emergency healthcare. He is  willing to pledge millions for constituency development projects, distributing resources to MPs and Senators for boreholes, sanitation and grassroots infrastructure. His ongoing philanthropy is proving that private citizens are complementing Government in building healthcare, education, arts and sport. His actions are showing that Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo is not rhetoric but reality, that patriotism is expressed in tangible service to the people.

Honourable Scott Sakupwanya delivered tonnes of gold annually to Fidelity Printers, stabilising the economy and strengthening reserves. His company Betterbrands diversified into construction, borehole drilling and river rehabilitation projects. He building sports facilities, supporting municipal services and investing heavily in football through Scottland FC.

Today he is leading the Manicaland River Rehabilitation Project, restoring rivers degraded by illegal mining and strengthening agriculture and climate resilience. He is investing into reviving the NASH Grassroots Sports Programme, identifying and developing talent in schools across all provinces. From time to time he is distributing food hampers to the needy, ensuring that vulnerable families are supported. His life is a parable of resilience, showing that greatness is not born in privilege, but in the will to serve.

Delish Nguwaya transformed Harare’s Pomona dumpsite into a modern waste management facility under a long-term arrangement. He donated medical supplies during COVID-19 and received recognition for innovative business leadership. Today he is employing thousands through Geo Pomona Waste Management, clearing hundreds of thousands of tonnes of waste and launching recreational facilities including a FIFA-certified soccer field. He is partnering with international organisations to align Zimbabwe with global environmental standards, while planning a waste-to-energy plant by 2030. He has opened The Sprout restaurant on rehabilitated land, symbolising transformation and proving that Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo is working in practice. His work is showing that even waste can be turned into wealth, that even ashes can be turned into beauty.

Across the country other patriots are standing in the same spirit. Dr Vivek Solanki is strengthening health systems through private hospitals and partnerships with Government. Grace Musandirire is advancing education, ensuring monitoring and evaluation frameworks are empowering schools. Business leaders in the CEO Africa Roundtable are highlighting public-private partnerships as essential for industrial growth.

Women like Divine Ndhlukula are building enterprises that employ thousands and inspire young girls to pursue entrepreneurship. Farmers’ cooperatives are expanding agribusiness, musicians are uplifting culture and sports administrators are nurturing talent. Each of these individuals is proving that Zimbabwe’s progress is collective, that the nation’s resilience is driven not only by Government reforms but also by private sector dynamism. They are showing that patriotism is not a slogan but a discipline, not a speech but a sacrifice.

Career opposers are ridiculing these figures as corrupt, yet the opposition is comprised of saboteurs who are doing nothing but tarnishing the name of the country and fighting every progressive idea and reform agenda. In truth, Tagwirei, Tungwarara, Chivayo, Sakupwanya, Nguwaya and others are pillars of Zimbabwe’s transformation, complementing President Mnangagwa’s vision with tangible contributions that are uplifting millions. They are unsung heroes of the 4th Chimurenga, proving that patriotism is not only in politics, but also in enterprise, philanthropy and cultural investment. Zimbabwe is growing because Government is partnering with its citizens to the grassroots and together they are building a resilient and sovereign nation.

This is the philosophy of the 4th Chimurenga, that the liberation of the land must be followed by the liberation of the economy, that sovereignty must be defended not only with guns but with ploughs, factories, scholarships and ambulances.

These patriots are proving that the destiny of Zimbabwe is not in the hands of saboteurs, but in the hands of builders, that the nation is rising because its sons and daughters are choosing to build. They are the living embodiment of Aristotle’s dictum that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and Fanon’s reminder that each generation must discover its mission, fulfil it or betray it. Zimbabwe’s generation is fulfilling its mission and its patriots are ensuring that the nation rises resilient, sovereign and eternal.
