5 people perish in road accident

The driver of the Mazda B2600 was travelling from Harare to Karoi when he failed to negotiate a curve at the Mapinga Great Dyke Pass.

The vehicle veered off the road before rolling and throwing passengers out.
Two people died on the spot and two others died on admission at Banket District Hospital while the last casualty died on Saturday. Mashonaland Police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the accident.

He said those admitted in hospital were in a stable condition while the deceased bodies were taken to Banket and Chinhoyi hospitals.

The deceased have been identified as Anyway Makiyi (30), Learnmore Makiyi (9 months), Hilda Makiyi (5), Tinashe Gusha (25) and Samuel Daniel (45). The injured are Tafadzwa (20) and Bezil (43) Mutsungwe, Esther Chigora Dismock Kaseke, Brendan Kaseke (infant), Panashe Kaseke (5) and Wonder Ajabu (34) the driver.
