The national association is using the inter-provincial competition as part of their preparations for the Regional competition pencilled for April in South Africa and the World BMX championships set for New Zealand in July.
The competition is featuring riders from all age groups with the youngest rider being five years old and the oldest is 65 years old.
Zimbabwe BMX Association chairman, Andrew Donaldson, said they are looking forward to a competitive event since this is the first event of the year. We are going to have 12 races this weekend and in September we will have eight races. All these make up a series.
“This is for all age groups and the youngest rider in the competition is five-year-old Daniel Collett and the oldest is 65-years-old.
“Competition will be good, it should be high because this is the first one of the year,” said Donaldson.
The Zimbabwe BMX Association chairman said after the inter-provincials they hope to take part in the regional event to be held in South Africa in April.
Some of the riders expected to compete include 2010 Junior Sportswoman of the Year Tyla-Shae Donaldson and will be out to prove herself as one of the outstanding upcoming young riders. Other riders to compete are Savanna Mason, Mathew Bourne, Kristen Du Plooy and Claudia Petersen.
