PREPARATIONS for the African Union Sports Council Region V Youth Games are at an advanced stage with over 50 groups expected to perform during the official opening in Bulawayo on Thursday morning.
The artistes will perform in front of President Mugabe and the participating 10 countries at Barbourfields Stadium.
Region V games spokesperson Kenny Ndebele said artistes including veteran entertainers, Umkhathi and Siyaya, were hard at work preparing for the big day.
“The artistes will present a well choreographed act under the theme ‘Sonke, Tose, Together, Reaching for greatness’. The act will include dance, music and poetry,” Ndebele said.
He added that the acts would be directed by Siyaya artistic director Simon Mambazo Phiri as he is highly skilled.
Meanwhile, hip-hop artistes Cal_Vin, Gimel and socialite Mbo Mahocs have composed a track for the youth games titled Vana Va Africa. The track, which promotes Zimbabwe as a country full of peace and love, was released this week and is expected to start being played on local radio stations as from today as a build up towards the games.
The track, produced by ZiFm DJ Gibson Ncube, has a trendy hip-hop beat with lyrics in Shona, Ndebele and English.
