53 survive bus accident

FIFTY-THREE passengers survived a freak accident on Sunday when a bus they were travelling reversed as it ascended a steep slope in Kamativi and plunged into a gulley, police confirmed.
Matabeleland North provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Siphiwe Makonese said one person was injured when the accident happened at the 22km peg along the Cross Dete-Binga road near Kamativi mine around 4PM.

“I confirm that an AVM bus coming from Bulawayo going to Binga on Sunday afternoon rolled backwards and plunged into a gulley. The bus had 53 passengers on board and upon approaching the 21km peg along the Cross Dete-Binga road,” she said. Asst Insp Makonese said only one passenger was injured.
