6 crooners shine at jazz festival

Ammara Brown, Adiona Maboreke and Patience Musa gave revellers top class entertainment that was punctuated with dance, swings and swag.

Both revellers and the artistes were dressed in their best apparel to match the glitz and glamour of the event that was attended by well-known personalities and socialites.

Wenyika kicked off the party with a melodious song, giving revellers ample time to warm their sits, order their favourate drinks and adjust to the revelling ambience.

By the time she sang the classical hit, Wadarirei, fans were already on the dance floor, waltzing to the hit song.

By the time, Chiwoniso, Prudence, Adiona, Patience and Amara got on stage, the party was already in full swing.

For many, probably the day belonged to Chiwoniso, who did more than just perform in front of jazz connoisseurs.

Her music touched the hearts of many, who were pleasantly intrigued in the manner she wooed the crowd with her soulful and yet didactic songs.

Nhema Musasa, a traditional folktale and Mawere had the crowd up and dancing, reminiscent of the time when the late Andy Brown and Chiwoniso used to collaborate on stage.

Chiwoniso does more than just sing, she tells emotive stories in song.
Whether she is singing her own songs or doing jazz renditions, she delights her listeners with her silky voice.

She is also a vocalist with a warm voice that is quite extra-ordinary and thoroughly captivating.
The guest of honour Rebecca Chisamba urged the girl child to take her career seriously.

Jazz 105 spokesperson Yasin Dhala said the response was overwhelming.
