600 cars seized in police blitz

According to the Vehicle Registration and Licensing Act Chapter 13:14, no vehicle shall be driven on any road in Zimbabwe unless it is registered and licensed.
The Act states that if any vehicle is going to be used for a single or return journey within a period of 14 days, it should have a temporary identification issued at the port of entry.
Insp Chishaka said those who drive such vehicles should not cry foul when they are impounded.
“The law clearly states that no vehicles should be on the road without any form of identification and the public should be very much aware of that,” he said.
In October last year, police impounded 118 unregistered vehicles in Harare in a bid to get rid of unregistered and unlicensed cars.
Another 106 vehicles without registration number plates and proper documentation were impounded under an operation code-named “Name-Tag” in May last year.
Police said once such vehicles were stolen, it will be difficult to track them.
