Town secretary Mr Solomon Gabaza said they had decided not to increase rates following consultations with residents and business.

“We have already submitted our 2018 budget proposal to the parent Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing for approval. For the year 2018 we have resolved that there will be no increase in our tariffs in next year’s budget. We have also budgeted for Mabvazuwa Polyclinic, Makoni Country Club resuscitation, prepaid water meters, a fully fledged fire department among other projects,” said Mr Gabaza.
