63-year old Bulawayo man fined US$105 for trespassing – ploughing on someone’s piece of land is illegal

A 63-year-old Bulawayo man has been fined US$105 for trespassing after he repeatedly ploughed on land that is not his from December 2024 to March 2026.

Atunus Ncube of Chesa Village Umguza, appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Jeconia Prince Ncube facing a charge of trespassing.
He pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced to pay a fine of US$105, in default he will be sentenced to 30 days in prison. In addition the fine is payable before April 17.

Prosecuting, Ms Cathrine Kuzu told the court that the complainant and the accused only know each other in connection to this case.

Sometime in December 2024 the complainant Washington Dokotela Moyo (42), discovered that the accused person had practised illegal farming in his farm in Mandau Umguza, said Ms Kuzu.

The court heard that the complainant sent his young brother to tell the accused person that he must desist from ploughing on his land.

She said on March 9, 2026 the complainant sent his younger brother to the farm and he discovered that the accused person had practiced the farming again.

The younger brother approached the accused person who said that he was not going to leave that place.
A police report was made leading to the arrest of accused person, added Ms Kuzu.
