7 Zanu-PF youth members booted out

MANICALAND provincial youth league has booted out seven provincial executive members for failing to attend three consecutive meetings.

The announcement was made by acting provincial youth league chairman, Cde Mubuso Chinguno in Mutare this afternoon and said the move was in line with Section 263 of the Zanu-PF constitution.

Section 263 states that any member holding office at any organ who absents him or herself at any meeting without reasonable cause three consecutive times on resolution shall lose office.

The ousted seven provincial executive members were Loveness Zihu (vice-secretary for gender and culture), Patricia Murenje (first committee member), Fanuel Mandiringa (secretary for the disabled and disadvantaged), Cleopas Samanga (secretary for transport and welfare), Gilbert Mupeti (secretary for information and publicity), Esau Chikumura (secretary for health and child welfare) and Batsirai Mhuriyengwe.

The provincial executive committee had resolved to co-opt new members to replace the booted members, but they were stopped by national youth League political commissar, Cde Innocent Hamandishe, who said a comprehensive report on allegations levelled against the ousted seven should be forwarded to the national executive office first.

Those lined up for co-option include Cdes Claudius Mugarasadza, Peter Mbiza, Cosmas Pasanduka, Elias Mauka, Tendai Gorenje, Fungai Tsakatsa and Portia Matiringana.

Cde Hamandishe tasked national youth league secretary for tourism, Cde Betty Dhliwayo to come up with a report detailing the allegations being faced by the members as well as their responses.

“I will expect a report from Cde Betty (Dhliwayo) before any co-option is done. As the youth league let us learn to be disciplined. We do not want to encourage disorderly dismissals of members, but at the same time deadwood must be replaced because there are so many youths out there who are willing to work for the party,” said Cde Hamandishe.

Speaking at the same occasion, deputy national secretary for youth affairs, Cde Kudzai Chipanga called on the Manicaland youths to weed out rogue elements fanning factionalism in the province.
