A SAKUBVA rank marshal learned the hard way that crime does not pay after he was ordered to pay $70 fine for assaulting his colleague over a 25 bond coin misunderstanding. Biggie Mushambi (33) was ordered to pay $70 by March 31 or risk going to jail for 40 days. He pleaded guilty to assaulting Brian Kilimira when he appeared before Mrs Sekai Chiundura.
Mr Fletcher Karombe prosecuted. It was the State’s case that after loading a commuter omnibus, Mushambi and Kilimira were given a 25 bond coin as payment by the conductor.
“Mushambi refused to share the coin with Kilimira and started assaulting him. He threw him into a trench,” said Mr Karombe. Kilimira sustained two deep cuts on the nose and mouth respectively.
Responding to the allegations, Mushambi told the court that he was retaliating since Kilimira had assaulted him first.
He, however, admitted that he had committed an offence by assaulting his colleague and asked the court for forgiveness.
