SEVENTY Racers are expected to participate in the 45th edition of the Toyota Castrol Three Hour Endurance race at the Victoria Falls Road Circuit today, Leonora Young one of the organisers confirmed yesterday.“A total of 70 racers have registered of which 40 drivers are for the Three Hour enduarance race and 30 riders for the one hour motorbike endurance challenge,” said Young.
This famous event, which started in 1969 and saw many drivers from Zimbabwe, South Africa and the United Kingdom taking part, is still attracting competitors from other countries with 11 racers from South Africa, one of them being the South African national motorbike champions Donathan Tourue and Themba Khumalo.
The motorcycles will take centre stage between 1PM and 2PM before the motorsport enthusiasts enjoy a Three-Hour Endurance which will start at 3pm until 6pm.
Motorcyclist, Fuzzy Walker, who was awarded last year’s One-Hour Motorcycle Endurance overall and index trophies will be out to defend his title from the South African duo of Khumalo and Tourue.
The cars category will see the likes of the close and ever changing positions of father and son duo of John and Brett Cameron from Harare in their Lotus 7’s, local drivers Angelo Tavares, Darren Winter Boer, Darren Pragji, Phil Minaar Jnr, Dean Norman, Zane Shah, Julian Van vuuren, Phil Van vurren, Sam Nyamapfeka, Jimmy Zevgolis, from the various national and club classes including the BMC Ultimate Street Car Challenge run on the day.
