EIGHT candidates from Bulawayo province have been approved to contest for posts in the Zanu-PF National Youth League when it holds its elective conference slated for next month in Harare.
The Zanu-PF Youth league will hold its 7th National elective Youth Conference from 4-8 May to elect new leadership. The last party conference was held in 2014. The eight are Cdes Rayton Masamba, Godknows Mdari, Blessed Mushando, Bhekinkosi Dube, Garikai Zonde, Linda Chinamano, Thabo Thwala and Munashe Mtutsa.
This comes as more than 4 000 youths from across the country submitted their CVs for the Youth League’s elective conference ahead of the 15 April deadline for submission of CVs.
Zanu-PF provincial secretary for Information and Publicity Cde Archie Chiponda confirmed the successful vetting of the eight, adding that as a province they were happy with the candidates that have been put forward and expected them to add value to the national youth executive if elected.
“We are happy with the vetting process and have every confidence in those that made it through the rigorous vetting campaign,” Cde Chiponda said.
The party’s acting deputy secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Tendai Chirau is on record confirming the conference while also adding that those eligible to contest should be 35 years and below. The party has over the past few months been holding elections at district and provincial levels ahead of the main conference.
The conference will elect the deputy secretary for youth and other positions while the Secretary for the Youth League will be appointed by President Mnangagwa as the First Secretary and President of the party. — @RealSimbaJemwa
