simple, according to an advert which is being aired on ZBCTV there are eight million viewers who watch the channel.
The advert, whose voice over was done by Tonderai Nokutenda Katsande, even goes further by giving us the calculations that from eight million viewers, “16 million eyes cannot be wrong”.
Well, this is the part that I liked most.
I assume the advert only considers those with both eyes and leaves out the one-eyed viewers or put nicely the visually impaired.
Thanks to the ZBCTV for the advert, many people including myself need not to stress where to get those figures. However, I believe that ZBCTV, the national broadcaster, can still do better and I just wonder where the other viewers are.
Is it about transmission or something I guess I still have to find out because the advert doesn’t give the reasons?
Lately, there have been some interesting programmes on the channel and the whole of last week my colleagues poked fun at me after they watched me in one of the drama series called Suburban D.
I got a lot of calls from people asking whether it was me or not.
Well, the truth is I got a call from the producer of the drama, Jasen Mphepo, whom I have known since he was an actor at Theatre in the Park.
So when he came up with the idea to shoot the drama series he created a part for an investigative journalist and the only person he could think of was yours truly.
Having been familiar with the front-of-the camera scenes I decided to have a go at the small screen to get an appreciation of the art.
I told Jasen that I had never acted before and he said he needed someone who was raw and the next thing he gave me a script a day before the shoot.
My role was that simple – to investigate a human trafficking syndicate, which operated in Masvingo where young women were forced into prostitution.
Well, that didn’t excite me much but later I as I went through the script my heart popped out when I realised I was to visit a brothel and pretend to be a sex maniac.
The lady who was supposed to be my partner is an accomplished actress and she made it easy for me.
However, my plans to bust the syndicate were scuttled after the “pimp” discovered that I wasn’t looking for sex but an undercover journalist.
Obviously, that landed me into big problem and the pimp ordered his bouncers to “deal” with me accordingly. This is the part that made ZBCTV viewers to hate or love me more.
Well, I can’t say much about my acting skills lest people think I’m tooting my own horn, but those that watched the episode must have enjoyed it.
Elsewhere, big shows are lined up on Mzansi Magic this October! Mzansi Magic – a proudly South African, locally focused, general entertainment channel for pay television viewers countrywide – reigns October in with big news!
Pick of the week
Lough out Loud returns for season four Friday 7 October at 19:30 with more gags and even bigger suckers under the helm of its new co-executive producer Rapulana Seiphemo, who takes over from Bobby Heaney from episode four.
This season of Laugh Out Loud is a crazy medley of old school and new school gags. Our talent scouts found a gem in the Idols elimination carnage, in Tats Nkonzo, who turns popular tunes into hilarious songs. Also newly recruited is our agony uncle of sorts, the hilarious Siya B, a sangoma of the heart. The usual suspects are still there: wacky news by the irrepressible Tol Ass Mo, who’s moved up in the world . . . of his house.
Charlie’s Hair Salon is still hustling, our improved team still delivering live laughs and, of course, the Sucker Squad is on the prowl. Our Big Suckers pack even more punch as we go for SA’s favourite celebrities and push them to their comical limits, presented by Kenneth Nkosi and Tumi Morake.

The X Factor
It’s tough enough to sing in public, but when you step in front of Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, LA Reid and Nicole Scherzinger the pressure is through the roof. Now add in a live audience of thousands and you’ve got an audition for The X Factor.
A hundred thousand will try, few will advance. If a majority of the judges (and the audience) think you might have what it takes, you make it through to the next round. On M-Net and simulcast on Mzansi Magic, X Factor starts Saturday 8 October at 17:00 and also on Sunday October 9 at 17:00.
