The show will be held at Ochi City on October 15 a joint that has become a favourite of many party goers.
The pageant, which runs under the theme “Beauty and Brains”, seeks to give platform to academics and prove that they can do more than just books.
Katherine Sukuta, a former model and one of the choreographers of the show, said that everything was going according to plan and what was left is for the models to go into camp.
“We are now ready for the finals and the models will be going into camp on October 8,” she said.
She added that models would attend several workshops and take grooming lessons during the week- long camping.
Sukuta also took time to thank the corporate world for supporting the pageant, saying the initiative would go a long way in nurturing and grooming future models. “I would like to thank our sponsors especially Commissioner Oliver Chibage who has worked hard to make this project one of the best in the country,” Sukuta said.
She also urged the fans to attend the gig in their numbers and experience beauty being taken to another level.
“Modelling enthusiasts should come in their numbers and experience the beauty that is found in the Zimbabwe’s tertiary institutions,” said Sukuta.
The winners of the pageant will walk away with various prizes, which include several scholarship packages and a chance to represent Zimbabwe in the Miss Universities Africa. As a sign of social responsibility, the winners of the pageant will donate money and goodies to various orphanages dotted around Zimbabwe and also market the country in conjunction with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority
Apart from the modeling extravaganza at the show, superstar Oliver Mtukudzi and rhumba musician Energy Mutodi aka Tatu Muluba among others are billed to perform.
Rumbidzai Mudzengerere, the Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, and Miss Universe Zimbabwe Lisa Morgan are some of the previous winners of the pageant.
