man had been sent to kill Charity Wadyandiani (27) by her jilted boyfriend.
The incident occurred at House Number 951 Hunyani Section, Chinhoyi, last week at around 8pm when an unknown man knocked at the door and requested to talk to Cha-rity.
Charity opened the door and went to meet the man who produced a CZ pistol and pointed it at her.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident and said investigations were still in progress.
He said Charity retreated into the house and the man followed her before meeting Mr Tryson Phiri who intervened to save his daughter.
Mr Phiri attempted to disarm the man but lost his footing and fell to the ground.
He sustained minor injuries to his leg, but he recovered before forcing the man out of the house.
The gunman who is still at large fired two shots that hit the dining room wall before he disappeared into the darkness as Mr Phiri kept on advancing despite facing an armed opponent.
Unconfirmed reports say Charity’s boyfriend had spent money on her but she now seemed not interested in the relationship.
Insp Mabgweazara said nothing was taken from the house and the gunman did not demand anything.
