A LEAN field of nine runners will this afternoon trade iron and leather over 1 200m for The Original Genuine Lotto Since 1999 Champion Juvenile Stakes Grade (3) race set for Borrowdale Race Course. The race is on at 3:15pm. The first horse to cross the line will win $4 800 leaving the next three runners to be awarded $1 600, $1 000 and $600. This battle for the sprinters will pit two-year-old juvenile horses drawn from most of the stables in Zimbabwe against each other.
The juveniles are yet to make a name for themselves, for that reason all trainers are expected keep a watchful eye on their products to see how best they will perform. However, punters might find the going tough as they search for a winner among this bunch. Trainer Amy Bronkhorst will be hoping that any of her three equines on the field go on to produce wonders and deliver to the stable the floating trophy and the $4 800 prize money. Bronkhorst has loaded into the chamber Cream and Honey, Jinx Johnson and Wylde Style ready to shoot. Three more contestants will arrive from the yard of Penny Fisher, these being Lady Carina, Whatsnewpussycat and the African Love Story.
Determination carrying a top weight of 58 kilogrammes with Andrew Fortune as the pilot will represent the yard of Gokhan Terzi. The last soldier for this trip is Rhythmical Reply trained by Bridget Stidolp. Considering that this is a bunch of untested foot soldiers it will be interesting to see how the rookies will fare.
The fastest horse will engrave its name in the history books of 2016 and be recorded as the fastest following closely on the foot prints of some of the fastest runners today Among the Equina, Print The Pounds Merhaba to name but a few.
This race has been slotted in as race 6 on the card, six more supporting acts will to be hosted on the day with a combined total of 67 runners participating.
