A cultural cocktail expected at the King Mzilikazi Day celebrations

The second day of the King Mzilikazi commemorations has started with a march from Matshobana (NocZim garage along Luveve Road), set to be concluded at the Large City Hall.
Amabutho, Amatshitshi, Izimbongi, members of the royal family, as we as cultural enthusiasts are part of the parade.
From there, free buses will transport attendees to Mhlahlandlela, where the main ceremony will be held, attended by members of the royal family, traditional chiefs, Government officials, business leaders and members of the public.
Some of the special guests who are expected to attend are Zambian Chief Chilonga, United Kingdom of Southern Africa’s Prince Mavuso, local chiefs Chitanga, Gezani, Tshovani, Garahwa and Mahenye, to mention a few.
Sipho Gama, chairman of the Mthwakazi kaMzilikazi Cultural Association (MMCA), revealed this year’s theme: “Siqoqa Isizwe Ngamasiko” (We strengthen the nation through culture), which he said underscores the importance of cultural heritage in nation-building.
“King Mzilikazi was a nation builder. He united people from all walks of life, and today we remain united because of his leadership and nation-building skills. This event is not just for the royal family; it’s for everyone who identifies with King Mzilikazi, his philosophy, and the broader Ndebele culture. Everyone is welcome, regardless of ethnicity, race, or cultural background,” said Gama.
