Kurai Makore had a triumphant return from his maiden tour of the United Kingdom, delivering a vintage performance at The Yard in Harare on Friday night.

Nestled in the heart of LongCheng Plaza, Makore’s act, which ended in the early hours of today, was a mixed blend of his own compositions and those of U.S.-based Chimurenga guru Thomas Mapfumo.

He left fans in awe as he performed his catchy songs, such as “Thombi,” proving that Chimurenga music is in safe hands. Fans showered him with cash, while a lady who identified herself as Chihera gifted him a glittering jacket live on stage.

“This gift is for you, Kurai, and I will design similar outfits for the group. I am going back to the UK tomorrow (Saturday), and I am glad we had fun together,” she said in front of a highly appreciative crowd.

Kurai was humbled by the support he received. “It was quite an honor performing here, and we are going to continue doing this to give fans value for their money,” he emphasised.

Kurai is undoubtedly one of the finest performers of his generation, with much to prove regarding his creative edge.

He was in his usual best as he ushered out all his artistic verve, marking yet another reunion with fans.
