ON Tuesday last week, worshippers were treated to some thrilling gospel vibes when they attended a concert in Harare that was hosted by ministers Ellard and Sharon Cherayi.
The event, dubbed “His Atmosphere of Presence”, was meant to bring people together and pray for a better Zimbabwe.
“The main objective was to raise an altar of worship in our nation; gather together and lift up the name of Jesus purely out of the love we have for God. We wanted everyone who loves the Almighty to come and dedicate just two hours of their time in the presence of God,” said Minister Ellard.
The couple said the nation needs to be delivered from the scourge of drug abuse.
“The day, February 21, was National Youth Day and we were saying no to drugs and yes to the presence of God. Some youths are now being swallowed up by drugs and we were saying it is time to rise up for Jesus, for salvation and to show that we love Him and are not ashamed of it,” he said.
During the concert, the duo wowed the crowd by performing some of their new songs.
“The response to the event was overwhelming. It was a huge success. God surely humbled us with a great turnout and, above all, with His presence. Indeed, it was an atmosphere of His presence.
“The venue was full to the brim and we had overflows. We had people from outside the country who came to attend, not to mention those from outside Harare, who came to experience such an atmosphere. Artistes and corporates were well-represented at the event,” said minister Ellard.
Similar events are planned in future.
“We had never hosted such an event; this was the first of its kind, where people were invited to come for free and just worship God. This is the beginning of a new chapter as we seek to hold such events every month or after every couple of months. It encourages the young generation to always seek God and give Him His rightful place,” he said.
The Cherayis recently released a live DVD album titled “God The Lifter Of Men”.
The album has tracks like “Anosimudza/God the Lifter of Men”, which is a song that encourages people not to lose hope in God.
“Fara Iwe Moyo Wangu”, minister Ellard’s collaboration with his wife Sharon Manyonganise-Cherayi, has been doing well on national radio.
The track reminds us that God is the comforter in all our challenges.
Other notable tracks include “Todana Jesu”, “Nditungamire Jehovah” and “Zimbabwe”.
“There are a lot of surprises in store for our fans. The year 2023 is going to be an exciting one as we will be releasing more songs and doing several collaborations. The DVD album is now available in all digital stores for streaming.”
