Each morning, 38-year-old Moreblessing Mpofu wakes up with one prayer: to live long enough to see her children grow.
Known to many as NaPercy, Moreblessing is a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Collen Bawn, Gwanda. She is a devoted mother of two daughters.
Her biggest dream is simple. She wants to see her firstborn, who is in Form Four, finish school and chase her dreams.
She also wants to keep giving her nine-year-old daughter daily hugs, meals, and love.
Like every mother, she hopes to watch her children grow, succeed, and have a bright future. But that dream is under threat.
Speaking for the family, Mr Privilege Chikati said Moreblessing was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in 2024.
“Since then, she has had one round of chemotherapy,” said Mr Chikati. “But the cancer is still spreading. Fluid keeps building up in her stomach. The family has used almost all its money trying to save her.”
The pain in her body is heavy. The pain in her heart is heavier. She is afraid of leaving her two daughters behind while they are still so young.
“I am begging for help with medical costs,” said Moreblessing softly from her bed.
“Please help me get treatment so I can recover and continue raising my children.”
She said doctors have advised another round of chemotherapy and that she needs six sessions, with each session costing US$500.
In total, the family urgently needs US$3 000, which they are struggling to raise.
For Moreblessing, this treatment is more than medicine; it is a chance. A chance to attend her daughter’s graduation. A chance to see her youngest grow up — a chance to keep being a mother.
Right now, her daughters need her more than ever. She said her eldest daughter was preparing for final exams and needed guidance and encouragement, and that the youngest still ran to her for comfort after school. Without their mother, both girls face a future with a gap that nothing can fill.
This is not just a fundraiser for hospital bills. This is a call to help two young girls keep their mother.
The costs are high, but hope is still possible. With treatment, doctors believe Moreblessing can keep fighting. Without it, the cancer will continue to take over.
She has spent her life caring for others, and today she needs the community to care for her.
