A song for Zimbabwe

Emmanuel Kafe
GOSPEL musician Josh Kawara, popularly known as “Josh Kays”, and his Worship Impact Team have released a new single titled “Nyarara Zimbabwe”, which is meant to inspire citizens to pin their hope on God.

The psalmist-cum-pastor explained that the song is a prophetic message to encourage the nation.

“‘Nyarara Zimbabwe’ came during a prayer service when Apostle Duncan Manyonda was preaching about the dreams he had about our country — God said everything will soon normalise,” he said.

“The song speaks to orphans, the unemployed and the less privileged of the society. It encourages them to soldier on, God will soon turn things around.”

He said his songs are inspired by the Holy Spirit.

“I believe the songs are given to me by the Lord. I also believe that we are in a season of prayer and we need to engage God, He does the impossible,” said the psalmist.

Pastor Kawara said he is working on his fifth album titled “New Sound”, which will feature South African gospel artistes.

The “Jesu Ari pano” hit maker, who leads a 25-member group who rose to prominence in 2013 when he scooped the Best Song of the Year award at the Permican Awards in 2016, is confident that the upcoming album will minister to Christians.

Off the stage, Pastor Kawara is an ordained worship pastor at Global Word Ministries and has worked with several artistes including Zimpraise, Takesure Zamar and Pastor G.
