A tasty ‘Haifiridzi’ dish

EVERY Zimbabwean has at one point tasted this vintage dish since beef and veggies are a staple relish in most local homes. Most families have a garden in the backyard that supplies them with leafy greens and other vegetables needed in a recipe. Here is one simple way of preparing a Haifiridzi dish.

  Requirements

A pot;

One kg beef, cut into pieces;

Cooking oil;

Two tomatoes;

One small onion;

Robot pepper;

Salt to taste;

A bunch of chomolia

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Put the beef in the pot and fry until golden brown, add water and boil until the beef has been thoroughly cooked.
  3. Add the onion and fry until translucent, then add robot pepper and fry for a minute.
  4. Place tomatoes and leave them without stirring for three minutes and then mix.
  5. Stir in the chomolia and cook until the veggies are done. Serve with sadza. — Bigbite
