AAC golf team named

African Amateur Golf Team Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Royal Harare golfer, who hails from a golfing family, has finally broken into the national team.
The ZGA announced a four-member team that will represent the country in the tournament from October 16-21.

About 15 countries are expected to take part.
The last tournament was held in Egypt and powerhouse South Africa emerged victorious while the Egyptians were runners-up.
Joe Sithole, the ZGA secretary, said the association’s president, Martin Rateiwa, announced the team at the end of the Hillside Masters at the weekend.

“The team of four will be Clive Nguru, Emmanuel Hungwe, Nick Golbert Masunga and Kayman Mandhu,” said Sithole.
“The non-travelling reserve will be V. Goddard.
“The team will be managed by Roger Baylis while the head of delegation will be Rateiwa.”

The team is made up of experienced players who have featured in several high-profile tournaments.
Nguru, who is the leading local amateur, will be hoping to lead from the front.
“We have confidence in the team that was announced as the players have played several tournaments of this magnitude,’ said Sithole. “The golfers will get experience and two of them have represented the country in

the junior ranks and they can face up to the challenge.
“Mandhu is the only player who will be making his national debut but he is a very good player.

“Our aim is to improve and I believe this year we are going to have ample time to prepare as we still have a month.”
Meanwhile, Ignatius Mketekete returned to the top of the local Order of Merit after the Leopard Rock Classic.

The golfer dislodged Tongoona Charamba who failed to make it into the money zone at the tournament.
Charamba failed to make an impact.
Mketekete increased his earnings this weekend to US$5 904.83.
Robson Saurombe, who won the tournament, now lies in second place while Charamba is third. Phillip Tshuma is fourth and Titch Masemburi fifth.
