THE new crop of Affirmative Action Group (AAG) should not take part in corrupt business activities and must pledge their loyalty to the ruling party ZANU-PF, whose principles are the founding bases of the economic lobby group.
The call was made last weekend by one of AAG founders, Cde Jimaya Muduviri, during the inauguration of AAG Kadoma district leadership. Cde Muduvuri is among the founding fathers of the pressure group established in the 1990s together with its pioneering president Cde Philip Chiyangwa.
Other founders include the late Peter Pamire, business mogul Cde Esau Mupfumi and other successful businessmen.
“When we formed AAG, we were trying to show the rest of Zimbabwe that we can be economically independent. It was also formed as an economic-supporting toll for the ruling party’s activities.
“As AAG, we are here to support our government and ruling party as we are an affiliate of Zanu-PF. The new crop of AAG should be guided accordingly,” he said.
The AAG, he further added, was ready to buttress the ruling party’s drive of over five-million votes during the harmonised elections.
“President Mnangagwa should be re-elected resoundingly during the 2023 elections and as AAG we shall put all our resources towards this goal.”
Addressing the same gathering, AAG’s secretary general Mr Clifford Hlupeko challenged youths to grab business opportunities that the Second Republic was putting on the table before lauding President Mnangagwa for introducing the Command Agriculture scheme which he said had transformed lives of many people across the country.
“Our President (Cde Mnangagwa) is always ensuring that agriculture sector, which is the bedrock of our economy is supported.
“We salute him for supporting farmers through implements. Recently he handed over heifers in support of the youths in the sector,” he said.
