A woman yesterday told the Harare Civil Court that her abusive stepson broke into her bedroom while she was naked and asked to be intimate with her.
Shamiso Munyoro told magistrate Mr Brighton Pabwe that her stepson, Tonotenda Koffi, was in the habit of physically and verbally abusing her.
Munyoro was seeking a protection order against Koffi.
“He doesn’t respect me as his stepmother and at one point he broke into my bedroom while I was naked and requested to have sexual intercourse with me,” she said.
Munyoro complained to Mr Pabwe that Koffi was in the habit of verbally and physically abusing her each time they quarrelled.
“I am sick and tired of being verbally and physically abused by him and to make matters worse he uprooted all my vegetables from my garden,” said Munyoro.
She said Koffi was also threatening to evict her from her matrimonial home.
“Sometimes he teams up with his elder brother to lock me outside the house at night,” she said.
Koffi denied the allegations, saying he would never respect Munyoro as her stepmother because of her “evil” behaviour.
“I will never accept this woman as my stepmother because before my father died he used to tell us that she was just our maid, not his wife,” he said.
Koffi said soon after his father died, Munyoro started ill-treating him and his siblings, making their life unbearable.
Mr Pabwe granted the protection order in Munyoro’s favour, barring Koffi from verbally and physically abusing her.
He also ordered the two to live in peace.
