Bulawayo’s emerging young DJ Brandon Munashe Kashora, popularly known as DJ Brze, is making a name for himself on the city’s entertainment scene after featuring at several major music events this year.
The 16-year-old has performed at events including Garden of House, One Giant Picnic, Nizhe De Soul and Friends, and Hinde. He is also set to perform at the Jacaranda Music Festival on October 2.
Kashora, who was born in Gweru, developed an interest in music from an early age, growing up in a family where music was a constant presence.
His exposure to different genres through his parents and radio helped him develop an ear for music and eventually inspired him to teach himself how to DJ.
“If I’m being honest, my parents used to play music all the time. They played it in the lounge, their bedroom, in the car, pretty much everywhere. I also listened to the radio frequently, so naturally, I developed a strong interest in music.
“From there, I started teaching myself how to DJ and gradually developed my skills through practice and experience,” said Kashora.
He moved to Bulawayo in 2021 to pursue his studies, but the city’s vibrant music and entertainment scene provided him with an opportunity to develop his passion for DJing.
Kashora began building connections within the local entertainment industry, including working with DJs such as Ash T and Nitefreak. Through these connections, he landed opportunities to perform at some of the city’s established events, including Garden of House and Hinde.
“I started networking with people who were already connected to the industry, including DJ Ash T and Nitefreak, who played an important role in my journey by giving me opportunities to perform at events such as Garden of House and Hinde,” he said.
Kashora described 2026 as an important year in his young career, crediting his brother and mentor,
Tinotenda Loveradge Mufudzi, popularly known as MLA, for helping him navigate the music industry.
“To be honest, this is the happiest time of my life. I’m happy to say my work is being recognised. All thanks to my brother and mentor, Tinotenda Loveradge Mufudzi, known as MLA, who has played a huge role in my journey,” he said.
He said the rapid growth had come with pressure, but he remained focused on learning and improving his craft.
“2026 has been an incredible year for me so far. It’s been exciting, but also a little scary at times, especially with how quickly everything is happening and the pressure that comes with constantly growing, improving, and proving yourself.
“At the same time, I’m genuinely enjoying the journey, taking every opportunity to learn, grow, and become a better DJ. Looking back, I can honestly say this has been one of the best years of my life so far, and I’m really excited to see what the rest of 2026 has in store,” he said.
The young DJ has also started producing his own music and plans to release a new project before the end of the year.
“I have already started producing music. I have done a few bootlegs, and my first track was The Awakening. I’m set to release my next project in mid-October, titled The Awakening 2.0,” he said.
With several performances already under his belt this year, Kashora is now looking forward to another major milestone when he takes to the stage at the Jacaranda Music Festival on October 2.
