Accident claims three lives

A manager at Old Mutual Harare, Josephe Nyakonda, his friend Edmore Sithole and an unidentified person died on the spot, while two women were critically injured when a Toyota Land Cruiser, which was being driven by Nyakonda rammed the back of a haulage in Headlands at the weekend.

Police deputy spokesman for Manicaland Assistant Inspector Luckson Chananda told Diamond FM that the Toyota Land Cruiser, which was travelling to Harare from Mutare, hit the back of an AVM haulage truck, which was travelling in the same direction.

“The Toyota Land Cruiser was trying to overtake the truck at the 129 km peg in Headlands. Two passengers died on the spot and the other two were seriously injured,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, a pedestrian was run over by a Nissan Caravan in Rusape at the weekend while trying to cross a road. She died on the spot. The deceased was identified as Nomatter Kunze.
