Act upon a little hint from God

Looking at the unseen

1 KINGS 18:41-46

[41] And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.

[42] So Ahab went up to eat and to drink.

And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, [43] And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea.

And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. [44] And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand.

And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not. [45]

And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain.

And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

[46] And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

There has been no rain in Israel for a space of three and half years.

Elijah told Ahab, before there was any sign of rain, that he was hearing the sound of abundance of rain.

He was looking at the unseen and hearing the unheard, his eyes of faith saw and ears of faith heard.

That is a trait every believer should have.

Do not wait to see in order to believe, like Thomas.

Testify before the blessing comes.

Be positive in your testimony.

Elijah went and prayed.

He told his servant, Gehazi to go and check for the sign of rain.

Elijah remained on his knees, pleading for the rain, while Gehazi went six times to check for the rain, returning with a report that there was nothing showing any sign that the rain would come.

Elijah remained full of faith. He told Gehazi to go again for the last time.

On the seventh time there was still no rain, except a little hint of it, shown by a little cloud, the size of a man’s hand.

Gehazi brought back the report that there was no rain, but a small insignificant cloud the size of the hand of a man.

That was enough hint for Elijah that the rain was on its way.

“Go up, say unto Ahab, prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stops thee not”, he told Gehazi.

Elijah, who had heard the sound of abundance of rain, now was seeing the sign of the rain.

It was progressing from a belief to a manifestation of the evidence.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for.

The evidence of things not seen.

He told Gehazi to tell Ahab to get onto his chariot and drive furiously to his house or the rain would drench him.

The speed and urgency with which things were going to unfold were all in Elijah’s faith.

That is the same way it is about people who want to get healed or any blessing, they act if they can just have one little visible evidence.

It is possible for you to be outrun by your blessing.

It is possible God may beat your deadline.

It is possible the blessing may overtake you.

Get onto your chariot and be in haste.

God will surprise you.

Act on a little hint from God like Elijah who when he heard Gehazi saying: “I see a cloud about the size of a man’s hand.”

That cloud became two clouds.

Two clouds became bigger until the whole sky was black and thundering; and rain began to fall.

Elijah saw the evidence and urged Ahab to act upon it.

That is why we tell people: “Go on, start praising the Lord for it” before they receive it.

In Matthew 13:31-32 the Bible says: “Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: [32] Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.”

That little faith you have is a sign of abundance of rain. Keep watering that mustard seed of faith.

It will grow into a big tree that many birds will come and lodge in the branches of it.

If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, then start to hear the sound of abundance of rain.

Prepare your chariot. The showers of blessings will overtake you.

Act upon a small hint.
