ACTING President Dr Constantino Chiwenga attended a gathering of Roman Catholic Millennials for Christ in Nyanga this afternoon, emphasising Government’s responsibility to develop investment programmes tailored to empower them.
He was accompanied by the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, and other Government officials.
The event drew millennials from Borrowdale and Nyanga.
As a core concept of the Roman Catholic Church, the gathering aimed to bring millennials closer to God while focusing on a generation that carries the promise and future of both the church and nation.
Acting President Chiwenga described millennials – born between 1981 and 1996 – as a unique generation shaped by the digital revolution, economic reform, globalisation, and social transformation.
He explored three key dimensions with the group – their distinct identity, challenges they face, and the enduring hope offered by Christ.
Acting President Chiwenga acknowledged the opportunities afforded to millennials, including access to limitless knowledge.
“The Church is your refuge…and Government, too, has responsibility in this journey. Our investments in education, health, and community support are designed with you in mind,” he said.
He urged millennials to remain anchored in their faith, seeking God first in all things.
Acting President Chiwenga highlighted the millennials’ passion for justice and fairness, citing the biblical principle outlined in James 1:27.
He said despite their admirable traits, millennials face challenges such as isolation and struggling to form authentic relationships.
