Action In Ministry (AIM), which is a youth ministry of Harvest House International Church held its sports gala at John Cowie School in Rusape recently. The gala brought together clubs, churches and individuals from Manicaland as they competed in five sporting disciplines, soccer, volleyball, netball, basketball and athletics.According to the organiser, Mcdonald Mundondo, their aim was to promote integration, interaction of youths through sports.

“The whole essence was to promote integration, interaction, bringing young people together and also to reach out to the lost souls through sports. The event was a success and we also strive to add more recipes on how events are managed professionally as well as to portray the idea that as young people we are capable,” he said.

Speaking to The Weekender after the event, Manicaland AIM leader, Milidzani Ncube, said the event was a success and that they would be looking forward to continue holding such events as they bring fellowship and fun.

“As AIM, we are here to inspire young people to achieve their goals. Many young people have potential so we try by all means to set such events where they need to be themselves.

“We also try to take these youngsters out so that they realise that church is not all about preaching and it also encourages fellowship among them in a more convenient environment. The event was open to other churches as we believe that we are a body of Christ and the turn up was so encouraging as we saw some guys from various churches,” he said.

One of the youth leaders from AFM, Andrew Chitora, applauded the organisers for a job well-done.

“The event was well organised and the spirit was good. We felt at home and the word of God which was shared was so encouraging. We have learnt fellowship and it is good for the community as most of our children spend most of their time smoking and drinking. These gatherings help and also protect our children from bad habits,” he said.
