“Two months ago, members of the Glen View 31 requested to meet the party’s leadership. Mai Maengehama (wife to one of the activists) led them,” she said.
“We met them with the secretary-general (Mr Tendai Biti) and they outlined their grievances.”
Ms Matibenga was speaking at a function at which the party donated foodstuffs worth US$5 000 to the families.
Mr Morgan Tsvangirai’s wife Ms Elizabeth Macheka presented the foodstuffs.
MDC-T deputy treasurer Mr Elton Mangoma said his party was facing financial challenges.
“There are some people who think that they should receive all the money that we get,” he said. “The money that we get as a party is very little but on the issue of the Glen View 31 we said we should not reach a point where people ended up saying we are not looking after our members.”
The activists are facing trial for allegedly killing Inspector Petros Mutedza in Glen View in May last year when he went there to investigate an illegal meeting they were holding.
